This I believe is caused in part by the universality of the web and new media that defy borders and  the laws that govern them. the concept privacy and confidentiality  resembles rather closely positive theory on what SHOULD be but in actually what IS regardless of where you live with the right technology and smarts you don't have to leave your living room to hijack someones identity and personal information. ultimately the concept of privacy and confidentiality as it pertains to new media is illusory.
